Exercise

Keeping active on a student budget isn’t difficult.

It can benefit your body and your mental health. Exercise releases endorphins and increases blood flow to the brain, so keeping active will also help you to concentrate during those long study sessions. Don’t worry about not doing enough, even a small change can get your heart healthier, making you feel happier.

Here are 5 tips to stay active:

Join a Club or Team

University is the perfect time to try out a new sport, and at Bradford there are over 25 different sports clubs to join through the Student Union. Students of any level are encouraged to sign up. It is a great way to make friends while getting fit.

Explore the area

Bradford city and the surrounding areas are fantastic places to explore by foot or bike. The Student Union has many walking events where students can discover the local area and make new connections.

Get running

Couch to 5K is for everyone. Whether you’ve never run before or you just want to get more active, Couch to 5K is a free and easy way of getting fitter and healthier. Once you have mastered the 5k on your own, join a free local Park Run, a great way to get fit and meet new people.

Just do it

Some days it feels impossible to muster up the energy to break out into a sweat, even on our lowest days we benefit from exercise, even if it is only a 5 minute walk, it makes a difference and is a positive step to build on.
