If you are currently experiencing severe mental health problems or have experienced these in the past the Specialist Mother and Baby Mental Health service offers specialist short-term treatment to support your recovery during pregnancy and after birth.

Perinatal Support Service; Better start

Providing emotional support to families where a parent is struggling with their emotional health or well-being during pregnancy and the first year after birth. The Perinatal Support Service is aimed at pregnant women who have, or are at risk of developing, mild to moderate mental health issues.

NSPCC – Pregnancy In Mind

Pregnancy in Mind is a preventative mental health service designed to support parents who are at risk of or experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression during pregnancy.


PANDAS – Pre and Post-Natal Depression Advice and Support

Offer support and advice for any parent who is experiencing a perinatal mental illness. PANDAS Helpline is available from 9am – 8pm every day.  Dedicated volunteer team are on hand to offer support, advice and can help to signpost to other organisations if necessary.


APNI (Association for Post Natal Illness)

Provide support to mothers suffering from post-natal illness, and their families.  “You are not alone, get in touch for some friendly advice, or just to talk through how you’re feeling”.

NHS Inform – Postpartum Psychosis

Postpartum psychosis (puerperal psychosis or postnatal psychosis) is a serious mental health illness that can affect a woman soon after she’s given birth.
