The benefits of studying & working abroad while you are a student

By 7 September 2023No Comments

As a student who has participated in several internships and summer schools abroad, I can attest to the incredible benefits these experiences have had on my personal and professional growth.

One of the most obvious benefits of participating in internships and summer schools abroad is the opportunity to travel and experience new cultures. Studying and working in a foreign country is a unique and immersive experience that allows you to see the world in a new way. You have the chance to learn about new cultures, languages, and customs, which can broaden your perspective and help you develop a more global mindset.

But the benefits of these experiences go beyond just the cultural exchange. Participating in an internship or summer school abroad can also help you develop your professional skills and build your network. You have the opportunity to work alongside professionals in your field, gaining valuable insights and experience that can help you stand out in the job market.

For example, when I participated in an internship abroad, I worked alongside professionals in my field of study and gained hands-on experience with tasks that I would not have been able to do in a classroom setting. This experience not only helped me build my skills but also provided me with valuable connections and references that I can use as I start my career.

Additionally, participating in an internship or summer school abroad can help you develop your independence and resilience. Living and working in a foreign country can be challenging, but it also requires you to be adaptable, flexible, and open to new experiences. These skills can be invaluable as you navigate your career and personal life.

Finally, participating in an internship or summer school abroad can also help you stand out on your resume. Employers are often impressed by candidates who have international experience, as it demonstrates their ability to adapt to new environments and cultures.

In conclusion, participating in internships and summer schools abroad can have a profound impact on your personal and professional growth. It provides a unique opportunity to travel, learn about new cultures, develop your skills, build your network, and stand out in the job market. If you have the opportunity to participate in an internship or summer school abroad, I highly recommend taking advantage of it. The experiences and skills you gain will be invaluable as you navigate your future career and personal life.
